Ode to Phad Phak Bung Fai Dang

Oh phad phak bung fai dang...
The shear memory of your flavor and my taste buds sang.

I just couldn't get enough of your garlic and fish sauce soaken leaves.
Never was I to imagine such pleasure, such joy, from a common jungle weed.

But now as I live in the land of peanut sauce and satay,
The memory of your availability and affordability seem so far away.

And while for not every mouth did your sinewy stems behoove,
for you would wedge yourself between molars which no toothpick could remove.

I shall never overlook your common place on every menu,
And order you at any meal, anytime of day, and any venue.

So don't be put off by those who request tom yam or bamee hang,
Feel confident and fry proud cause you are so phad phak bung fai dang!
